Some of America’s most beloved characters from literature are jumping off the pages and landing on the Quincy Community Theatre stage. Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, Becky Thatcher and all of their friends, and even a few enemies, will be seen on stage February 2-5, 2012 when QCT presents “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer: The Broadway Musical,” sponsored by Refreshment Services Pepsi.
Set in St. Petersburg, Mo in the early 1840’s, “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer: The Broadway Musical” brings to life all of the familiar scenes from Mark Twain’s novel. Whether it's Tom tricking his friends into white-washing the fence, crossing swords with schoolmaster Dobbins, getting lost in McDougal's Cave, running from Injun Joe or taking on the Reverend Sprague in church, audience members will delight in this new telling of Twain’s classic tale and a whole new generation will be introduced to the world of Tom Sawyer.
With music by two-time Grammy Award winner Don Schlitz (The Gambler), a book by Ken Ludwig, with direction by Student Theatre Director/Head of Education, Brandon Thomsen, audience members are in for an evening of adventure, comedy and a toe-tapping good time for the entire family.
